FAT GRAFTING TO THE FACE
The face is often one of the first places to show signs of the ageing process. As time goes on, skin begins to lose its elasticity and volume. Sagging skin and sunken cheeks are the result of the natural ageing process and they can also cause folds to appear between the nose and mouth and loss of definition along the jawline.
There are now a number of products and techniques that can be used to correct this loss of volume. Fat grafting to face is one of the safest facial treatments available and it can be performed alone or as a complementary treatment to a facelift.
What does fat grafting to the face involve?
A fat graft to the face involves using your body’s own fat to fill out the face, leaving a more youthful, rejuvenated appearance. Once taken from the donor site, the fat is centrifuged and refined and then delivered into the problem areas of the face in many tiny injections so the fat can find a new blood supply for long-term sustainability.
What areas of the face can fat grafting treat?
The most common areas targeted with this procedure include the cheeks and mid-face. It can also be used to add volume to the lips, as well as fill out the lines between the mouth and the nose. As well as adding volume, the procedure can also help fill out any lines on the face and improve the overall quality and tone of the skin.
Is fat grafting safe?
Fat graft to the face is often perceived as a safer and more natural procedure compared to dermal fillers. As it involves using your own fat, the body won’t see it as a foreign body and therefore won’t reject it. It can also provide much more natural and long-term results in comparison to temporary dermal fillers.
What downtime can I expect after fat grafting?
The procedure is carried out under general anaesthetic and you will need to stay overnight. The healing time varies between patients, but it is advised to give it at least three weeks for any swelling and bruising to go down. Mr Tulley will tell you exactly what to expect during your consultation.
